Paysafe Group launched Mobile Pay following a successful U.S. pilot in the third quarter of 2019. Used by nearly 17,000 small and midsize businesses (SMBs) nationwide, the flexible mPOS solution combines Apriva software with AnywhereCommerce hardware. Mobile Pay is available in the Amazon Appstore, Apple App Store and Google Play and works on iOS, Android and Amazon platforms. It supports all major payment methods, including contact and contactless smartcards, magstripe cards and digital wallets, the company stated.
A recent Paysafe survey, titled Lost in Transaction: Payment Trends 2018, found 30 percent of American card-present SMBs plan to add mPOS apps by the end of 2020. "Smartphones in particular seem ideally suited to use as payment devices, thanks to rapidly improving security and advances in built-in biometric authentication," researchers wrote. They noted 74 percent of consumers surveyed would use mobile wallets to purchase high-ticket items if limits were raised.
O.B. Rawls, CEO, global payment processing at Paysafe, has seen widespread adoption of connected devices among small and midsize merchants. Wimbish Potter, senior vice president, product delivery at Paysafe, attributed Mobile Pay's rapid adoption to its intuitive user interface and business management capabilities. "High-quality, high-volume merchants use Mobile Pay," she said. "Pricing tools, reporting features and cloud-based inventory management capabilities enable them to manage an entire enterprise from anywhere."
Mobile Pay's permission levels facilitate a seamless multi-user experience, Potter noted. Customizable, role-based access enables employees to manage payment flows and process sales, refunds and invoices. Managers can view staff activities, inventory updates, reporting and sales history in real time on the Mobile Pay dashboard, creating and suspending users as needed.
Automated tax calculations, compliant with state and municipality guidelines, are continuously updated according to complex, evolving regulations in each jurisdiction, she stated, adding that this feature, combined with searchable reports and remote device, inventory and invoice management tools, helps merchants improve operational efficiencies and regulatory compliance.
Mobile Pay provides a frictionless user experience using market-leading Apriva mobile app and AnywhereCommerce Walker BT card reader peripheral with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, Potter stated. Receipt options include Bluetooth printer, email and SMS text.
Potter also mentioned that the simple user interface is easy to navigate, with little to no training needed. In addition to processing credit, debit, cash and check transactions, users can schedule and manage periodic and recurring card-on-file payments and subscription billing, she stated.
The secure, PCI-compliant solution uses two-factor authentication and supports up to nine employee logins. Mobile Pay merchants can manage devices and staff members, adding, removing or suspending devices and users as needed. Mobile Pay sales partners receive Paysafe and Apriva support, fast account onboarding, sales slicks and user guides.
