Put SmartPOS to work across merchant environments

NMI launched AXIUM SmartPOS, its first all-in-one card-present terminal line designed for ISOs, ISVs, SaaS platforms and their merchant customers. Built on Ingenico's AXIUM Android platform and integrated with NMI's payment acceptance platform, AXIUM SmartPOS gives partners a flexible POS solution that can be customized for different merchant environments while allowing them to maintain control over merchant relationships, applications and payment processing, NMI stated.

The solution is designed particularly for retail, hospitality, food service and field services. Rather than limiting partners to a fixed application, closed ecosystem or single processor, AXIUM SmartPOS supports customized software experiences that can be tailored to merchant workflows.

Retail merchants, for example, can use the devices for checkout and inventory management throughout a store, while restaurants can accept orders and payments table-side or at the counter. Hospitality businesses can take payments across properties and at events, and field service providers can invoice and collect payment when jobs are completed.

AXIUM SmartPOS supports chip, swipe and contactless transactions, including mobile wallets. An offline-first architecture allows merchants to continue accepting payments during connectivity interruptions, with transactions syncing when service is restored.

Simplify card-present deployment

NMI noted that it combines Ingenico's secure AXIUM Android platform and terminal portfolio with its Gateway, SDK, remote management, compliance infrastructure and deployment architecture. Partners can deploy devices without separate hosts, avoid building processor-specific integrations and connect card-present acceptance through the NMI Gateway with ecommerce, self-checkout, order-ahead, recurring billing and unattended payments.

"Our partners are being asked to deliver payment experiences that are faster to deploy, easier to manage and flexible enough to support how merchants operate today," said Kanan Keeney, senior product manager at NMI. The hardware offering spans three profiles: the DX series for portable retail payments, RX series for countertop and semi-attended kiosk environments and EX series for mobile and field payments.

NMI said it plans to support the full Ingenico AXIUM device range, including future models. Initial supported devices are PCI PTS v6 certified through 2032 and supported through NMI's platform for remote terminal management, compliance and application deployment. AXIUM SmartPOS is available through NMI's partner network. For further details, please visit nmi.com. End of Story
