Turn Android devices into payment terminals
Datacap Systems Inc. launched SureTap, a SoftPOS bring-your-own-device solution designed to help POS providers equip merchants to accept contactless payments directly on NFC-enabled Android devices without dedicated payment hardware. Powered by Datacap's omnichannel payments gateway, SureTap uses the same standardized integration Datacap partners use for countertop, mobile and unattended payment devices. The company said this approach can help POS providers add SoftPOS capabilities without developing and maintaining a separate payments integration.
SureTap is designed as a channel-friendly offering, with ISVs maintaining control over customer relationships and pricing, and Datacap not competing directly for their merchant customers. Merchants interested in the solution obtain it through their POS providers. "SoftPOS is most powerful when it works in harmony with every other way a merchant gets paid," said Justin Zeigler, vice president of product at Datacap. "By connecting SoftPOS support with credit, debit, ACH, eCommerce, and gift transactions via a unified commerce platform, SureTap helps our partners enable the full range of use-cases for their merchants; from in-store and mobile checkout to online and recurring payments, all via a single, seamless payments engine."
Extend unified commerce
SureTap uses the same Android API stack Datacap partners use for traditional card-present terminals, helping reduce the development work required to activate mobile contactless acceptance.
Transactions conducted through SureTap appear alongside traditional credit, debit, ACH, ecommerce and gift transactions in Datacap's reporting dashboard. The broader payments ecosystem also supports unified settlement, reporting and reconciliation across mobile, countertop, online, unattended and recurring payments.
For merchants, the SoftPOS approach can turn compatible Android smartphones and tablets into contactless acceptance devices, providing another option for mobile checkout, line busting, field services and other environments where a traditional payment terminal may be unnecessary or inconvenient.
Datacap said its processor-agnostic platform supports multiple processing platforms and pre-certified payment devices through a universal payments integration, allowing POS providers to accommodate different merchant requirements without tying their applications to a single processor.
SureTap is available now. POS providers can learn more and get started through Datacap, while merchants should contact their existing POS providers about availability. For more information, please visit datacapsystems.com/suretap.
