2022 ETA Hall of Fame inductees honored

WASHINGTON, Sept. 22, 2022 – The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) recognized the 2022 inductees to the ETA Hall of Fame at the Strategic Leadership Forum. The ETA Hall of Fame recognizes members whose contributions to the industry have been significant, substantial, and long-standing.

"ETA Hall of Fame inductees embody the spirit of bold leadership and innovation of the payments industry," said Jodie Kelley, CEO of ETA. “Our industry is constantly evolving and innovating. ETA’s Hall of Fame allows us to honor those who have helped pave the way for the modern payments industry.”

This is the third group of Hall of Fame inductees honored at the Strategic Leadership Forum. The 2022 inductees are:

Joyce Cook

Joyce was a crucial figure in the formation of the Bankcard Services Association (BSA), the precursor to the Electronic Transactions Association. She was instrumental in laying the foundation for the association, including securing involvement from Visa and Mastercard. She served as the third president of BSA, serving two terms. Joyce was one of the first female owners of an ISO, IMA Bankcard Systems, and sought to bring stability and professionalism to the payments industry through the association’s work.

Holli Targan

Holli served an 18-month term as ETA president from 2009-2010 and currently leads the payments practice at Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer& Wiess, where she is widely recognized as a leading national authority on payments systems law. Throughout her career as a lawyer, Holli has educated the industry and allowed it to grow to where it stands today.

Gerry Wagner

Gerry served as an ETA board member from 1999 – 2016. He had a successful 31-year career with Discover and became the face of Discover for the acquiring and payments industry. In 2008, Gerry moved to London to facilitate Discover’s international expansion and open its EMEA office. Throughout his career, Gerry was known as an industry advocate and a builder who helped evolve the payments industry to where it is today.
