"Disruptor" is a trendy catch word this year because new technologies and products change the landscape as we know it. Each time our industry takes a new direction, there are naysayers. However, a relevant quote floating around the Internet is: "When something goes wrong in your life, just yell 'plot twist' and move on." This sums up our industry.

One of the more visible disruptors has been Square Inc. This company's tiny box has caused headaches for many in our industry. But it also has spurred new ideas for micro payments in the mobile world.

Take, for instance, Flint+ from Flint Mobile Inc. The Flint+ offering is an extension of Flint Mobile's application and enables mobile businesses to accept credit cards by scanning card numbers instead of relying on additional external card reader hardware.

Supported by Fidano LLC, it is a mobile payment platform for small mobile businesses that operate outside of typical storefronts. The program allows ISOs and merchant level salespeople to easily offer mobile payment solutions to their merchants and customers through a self-service, customizable registration portal.
