Transform your checkout experience
Global Payments, a worldwide provider of payment technology and software solutions, debuted the first modular countertop POS device designed specifically for its Genius platform. Built in collaboration with merchants and partners across retail, hospitality and quick-service environments, the new device reflects a fundamental shift in POS design, enabling businesses to scale and reconfigure their hardware as their operations evolve, the company stated.
Rather than relying on a fixed terminal with limited flexibility, merchants can now choose from a range of modular configurations: an elegant countertop stand with hidden cable management, a customer-facing display setup, a kiosk arrangement or a wall-mounted installation.
Power over Ethernet support allows the device to be positioned wherever it is most functional, removing electrical constraints and improving front-of-house aesthetics.
This flexibility, Global noted, helps merchants create streamlined workflows, reduce clutter and tailor checkout experiences to diverse environments.
Under the hood, the system incorporates a next-generation processor that accelerates transaction throughput, an advantage for fast-paced locations such as stadiums, quick service restaurants, event venues and high-volume retail counters.
The hardware also features a design-forward aesthetic with a 15.6-inch edge-to-edge touchscreen, minimalist housing, and IP43 ingress protection to withstand spills, humidity and dust.
Visibility in semi-outdoor lighting makes it equally suitable for hybrid indoor/outdoor operations.
"We designed an elegant, robust and powerful device that scales easily," said Bob Cortopassi, president and chief operating officer of Global Payments. "Genius grows with merchants rather than forcing them to buy new hardware as their business changes."
Three distinct configurations support varied use cases: a dual-screen premium checkout for enhanced customer engagement, a compact single-screen model with a fully integrated PC for space-constrained areas, and a low-profile version with an angled card reader optimized for tight counters.
Enterprise rollout begins in December, followed by broader availability for small businesses in early 2026.
The new device will be featured at the inaugural Genius User Conference at Truist Park in Atlanta, where Global Payments is the official commerce technology provider.
