Strengthen your VAMP compliance strategy
Disputed.ai, an AI-native chargeback management platform founded by former merchants and technologists from SeatGeek and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, introduced its free VAMP Calculator, designed to offer merchants and payment processors unprecedented clarity into their standing under Visa's Acquirer Monitoring Program (VAMP).
With Visa having tightened enforcement in October 2025 and scheduled to lower thresholds further in April 2026, the calculator arrives at a critical point for organizations adjusting dispute strategies to avoid escalating penalties.
Unlike high-level reporting tools, the VAMP Calculator uses Visa's own methodology to estimate a merchant's VAMP ratio, blending fraud disputes (TC40) and non-fraud disputes (TC15) into a unified metric, Disputed.ai stated. Many merchants are discovering that certain fraud reports count twice, producing ratios significantly higher than those calculated under previous monitoring models, the company noted.
The stakes are substantial: exceeding the current 1.5 percent threshold—or next year's 0.9 percent threshold—triggers $8 per-dispute charges and raises the possibility of losing Visa processing credentials entirely.
"VAMP visibility shouldn't require guesswork," said Disputed.ai CEO and Co-Founder Shawn Kelley. "Visa's new program is complex, with fraud reports potentially counting twice toward your ratio. We built this calculator so organizations can see exactly what Visa sees and take action before penalties hit."
The company mentioned that more than 1,000 assessments have already been completed, revealing how quickly ratios can shift and how acquirers increasingly impose stricter internal limits that may exceed Visa's official guidelines.
Users report that the calculator helps them identify fraud-control weaknesses, model upcoming dispute volumes, and determine whether operational adjustments are needed to remain within network tolerances.
The launch underscores Disputed.ai's broader mission: helping enterprise merchants maintain card network compliance while recovering revenue lost to disputes.
Since raising $1.1 million in seed funding in March 2025, the company has expanded its AI-driven platform to address the rising operational and regulatory burdens associated with modern fraud and chargeback environments.
The VAMP Calculator demonstrates how accessible, data-driven tools can make emerging compliance requirements far easier to manage.
