Atomic Software, Inc., has entered into an agreement with GTE Wireless to provide a GTE branded version of its Authorizer for Windows 95/98/NT electronic payment software.
The new product is PC-Retailer. PC-Retailer will use GTE's Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) technology for fast credit card authorization. GTE will bundle the software, CDPD modem, and the airtime, and sell the product through banks, processors, MSPs, as well as GTE's stores, agents, and its sales force.
PC-Retailer is designed to process check, credit card, debit card, and purchase card authorizations for all types of merchants who do not have access to a standard phone line including retail, Internet, kiosks, fast food, mobile, trade shows, delivery, and seasonal. Transaction times are typically five to six seconds. This should "explode" in the marketplace.
