Put this in your "Did
you know?" category. To be able to offer on-line debit services
through its Hypercom manufactured American Express terminals, Amex
has registered as an Independent Sales Organization with Star, Honor,
MAC, Pulse, Shazam, Cash Station, NYCE, Magic Line, and AFFN. Amex is
doing everything within its power to level the playing field with
Visa and MasterCard. The current focus seems to be on assuring the
same or larger number of merchant establishments, and adding value to
the overall equipment proposition.
