A Thing A Web Site Is Really Cool
A Web Site Is Really Cool

Can you trust all the Internet numbers provided to us by industry pundits and research groups?

In a recent survey, 70 percent of the technology industry said that a Web site is important for their company to have, although only 33 percent actually do.

Smaller companies (28 percent) are less likely to have a Web site than larger companies (72 percent).

Even those companies with a Web site are hard pressed to explain its purpose beyond product information, and are doing it because the competition has a Web page.

According to the research firm of KPMG Peat Marwick, the number one reason for having a Web site is "being cool."

This doesn't mean you can't make money selling something that most people want and don't know why. It just means that you have to appeal to the "cool factor" in selling it.
