A Thing VeriFone To the Maxx

VeriFone To the Maxx

The TJX Companies, Inc., operator of T.J. Maxx and Marshalls off-price retail chains, has installed VeriFone hardware and software technology for its new end-to-end e-payment solution.

The TJX Companies installed VeriFone’s payment software with the Gift Card 2.0 payment application, which enables TJX to offer the Gift Card program at over 500 Marshalls stores nationwide. The Gift Card application is a modular component of VeriFone’s Integrated Payment Solution (IPS), which offers an end-to-end spectrum of payment technologies. The Gift Card 2.0 integrates with retailers’ existing in-store, Internet and enterprise-wide systems.

Unlike outsourced applications, VeriFone’s Gift Card application decreases costs by allowing retailers to maintain and track their card balances in-house. Statistical and reporting capabilities track customer information and shopping patterns, providing retailers with detailed records of every purchase, refund and return.

“VeriFone’s Gift Card solution bridges the expanding world of retail because customers can use it at the store countertop or in cyberspace, and the amount of information that the Gift Card captures makes it an amazing resource for retailers,” said Betty Kolanczyk, director of retail marketing at VeriFone. “Supported at the POS by VeriFone’s EverestPlus payment terminal, this powerful end-to-end solution gives retailers real freedom to design the kind of comprehensive payment processing system they need.”

Retailers can customize their Gift Card application with flexible expirations and new promotions. Cards are given value at the register, and a lost Gift Card can be easily deactivated and replaced, either online or at any store register.

The Gift Card 2.0 can be used for refunds, exchanges and returns. Extra dollar value also can be added, and gift certificates and refund balances are treated separately.

TJX Companies operates 662 T.J. Maxx, 536 Marshalls, 81 HomeGoods and 25 A.J. Wright stores in the United States. In Canada, the company operates 117 Winners, and in Europe, 74 T.K. For more information visit www.tjx.com.
