When we embarked upon a lead feature on developments in the self-service sphere, we expected it to be a fruitful topic; we did not know, however, just how much momentum this segment already has and what tremendous transformative potential it holds for the payments and retail industries. Consumer expectations and digital technologies are bringing self-service into the center, not just for restaurants, but also for a host of other retail segments and even professional services.
