Should I tackle the healthcare vertical?

I'm drawn to healthcare and payments because I have family in the healthcare field. We got to talking at a party this week, and they asked about my work as an MLS. They had no idea how involved my job is. We talked some about what goes on in their payment acceptance processes, and I had no idea how involved all of that is either. It looks complicated and daunting to me. Healthcare is not one of my ISO's specialties. How do I learn more about this? Do some people work with multiple ISOs so they can handle special verticals?

Thanks for your question. Some ISOs want their merchant level salespeople (MLSs) to work exclusively with them, but others do not require this. First, check the terms of your ISO contract. Then, if you are free to work with more than one ISO, research which ones specialize in healthcare. Ask colleagues, and check out our Resource Guide. Do your due diligence, because two companies specializing in the same vertical will likely have very different ways of approaching it.
