Versatile mPOS solution for all

Product: Infinea
Company: Infinite Peripherals Inc.

Infinite Peripherals Inc., a provider of enterprise mobility solutions based in Irvine, Calif., launched Infinea, a line of all-in-one Europay, MasterCard and Visa (EMV) solutions that are small enough to fit in the palm of a retailer's hand. The portable units include an integrated chip and mag stripe card reader and barcode scanner and meet all current Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards.

Andrey Tikhonov, the company's Senior Director of Payment Technology, described the Infinea mPOS solution as a versatile, secure, iOS-compatible device that meets all merchants' needs within a compact system. He further noted it's timeliness due to "the ongoing transition to EMV in the U.S., the growth of contactless payments and pervasive security concerns."

Despite widespread adoption of mobile payment technologies, no universal method or standard exists for accepting payments from smartphones, tablets and other connected devices. The full line of Infinea solutions is designed to be broadly compatible with a full range of operating systems, iOS, Android and Windows mobile platforms. Retailers can carry pocket-sized Infinea solutions on their day-to-day rounds, using them to check store inventory levels and process payment transactions while freeing up floor space and reducing congestion in the lanes.

Product options

The Infinea mPOS is an all-in-one mPOS solution for the iPhone 5 and iPod touch fifth and sixth generations. Infinea mPOS consists of a mag stripe reader and PIN pad that supports near field communication. The solution can manage an array of payment types, including magnetic stripe card, chip card and contactless transactions via NFC cards, Apple Pay and Android Pay. The solution has passed EMV Level 1 and Level 2, as well as contactless EMV Level 1 and the payment brands' contactless certifications.

The Infinea mPOS Flat delivers the same benefits as the Infinea mPOS, but connects via Bluetooth to any iOS, Android, Windows, Windows Phone or Windows mobile device.

The Infinea BluePad is a chip and PIN mobile payment solution compatible with iOS and Android devices. The solution supports PIN entry, contact chip smart card, mag stripe and Bluetooth. The solution can be paired with a range of Bluetooth-capable products. The payment peripheral meets PCI PIN Transaction Security 3.x and EMV Level 1 and Level 2 standards.

Multiple options

When connected to the iPhone or iPod touch via the Lightning connector, the Infinea mPOS can process a traditional credit card with a mag stripe, an EMV chip card with PIN entry and contactless payments. The solution uses a tactile keypad with 10 numeric keys and six functional keys. Its built-in scanner can read 1D and 2D barcodes.

The Infinea mPOS and Infinea mPOS Flat also connect via Bluetooth to a portable receipt printer, such as the IPC mobile printers DPP-250, DPP-350 and DPP-450, for two-, three- and four-inch receipts. Custom cases for the mPOS devices are also available, enabling retailers to promote individual logos and brand colors.

All Infinea mPOS devices are powered by the complete software development kit (SDK) designed to facilitate rapid integration of Infinea devices into custom mobile payment solutions. The SDK provides programming support for card reader and scanner functions. It also includes POS system and gateway integration.

Optional single and multi-unit charging stations are available for Infinea mPOS and Infinea mPOS Flat. These products include a BluePad charger, one-unit charger and five-unit charging station. end of article
