Sleek, fixed-to-mobile, iPad Air docking solution

Product: Bouncepad
Company: Bouncepad

UK-based Bouncepad, a provider of commercial displays, accessories and docking stations for tablet POS environments with U.S. offices in Boston, recently launched Luna, a low-profile tablet enclosure designed for omnichannel retail environments. Compatible with iPad Air 1 and 2, Luna functions as a fixed wall mount and removable, portable device. It uses secure radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to transition from fixed to mobile in high-tech retail settings, the company stated.

Tobi Schneidler, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Bouncepad, used his architectural design expertise to bring digital technologies into physical environments. "Consumers today are more informed than ever before, which has put many retailers and their store associates at a real disadvantage," Schneidler said. "[Luna] helps retailers take back control of their store and deliver a smarter customer experience."

The company noted that the secure, dock and charge system can free the tablet POS to fulfill whatever function is needed in the moment. Sales associates can use RFID fobs to release tablets from walls and carry them to customers anywhere in the store. Customers can access wall mounted displays to log into ecommerce sites and complete checkouts from inside the store. Store merchandisers can use tablet screen capabilities to create interactive displays. Luna's multitasking capabilities enable small stores to have a mobile and stationary POS in one device.

Dock, lock and go

In-store service is changing, and POS hardware needs to be more fluid and flexible to fit in with evolving retail environments, Bouncepad representatives stated, adding that Luna's tap-and-go technology enables retailers to connect and engage with their customers. The contact charging station facilitates continuously streaming content. Luna's dual-facing wall mount design enables users to flip the screen, adjust viewing angles and dock the tablet housing from either direction.

"With Luna, we were able to reimagine our entire in-store environment and change how we approach checkout, customer service, digital signage and even sales," said Chris Stratos of Happy Socks UK, a Swedish retailer. Happy Socks installed the smart docking system on walls and counters throughout its London store, making the Luna platform widely available to customers and staff. Between POS transactions, the iPads were used by customers and sales associates to peruse interactive merchandise displays.

Smart, green solution

The company further noted the ease with which Luna can be mounted on countertops and walls. Contact points in the wall mounting and docking case send continuous power to POS tablets to ensure adequate power for transactions and interactive merchandise displays. Luna's dock automatically locks each time a tablet device is placed inside. Sales associates can use their secure RFID fobs to authenticate themselves as authorized users before releasing docked POS systems from fixed wall and countertop locations. Customers can use fixed mounted displays to look up products and view interactive merchandise displays.

Bouncepad's team of in-store experts can help channel partners use Luna and other Bouncepad solutions to enhance their existing service offerings. They can advise on the number of Luna cases and tablets needed for a project and also assist with installation, troubleshooting and usage, Bouncepad stated.

All-in-one service model

Luna is designed to facilitate the fast-moving and increasingly mobile world of omnichannel commerce. Sales associates can use tablets to process transactions while capturing additional information about products and consumers. The proximity of tablets throughout the store can support a variety of value-added applications, promotions and in-app transactions while giving customers an easy way to compare pricing and view an entire collection of products online. Whether used as a self-service kiosk or dynamic digital display, Luna can put tablets to work as an integral part of a retail store and brand. Luna is available in quantity discounts; price breaks begin at 10 units. The company also reported that it works with sales channel partners and leading retailers in more than 40 countries. end of article
