More perspectives wanted

My friend started working in the merchant services industry less than a year ago and looks to be doing well. The biz seems kind of convoluted to me, though. I don't get how it works. She wants me to come work with her. I'm not satisfied with my finances now. I'm thinking it over, but I want to find out more first. It's not that I don't trust her, but she hasn't been involved all that long. I want some other views.

Marcel,

Attending industry tradeshows will enable you to attend educational presentations, network with payments pros and learn much in a short time. Here's a link to upcoming events: www.greensheet.com/datebook.php?flag=display_chart. Lucky for you, the Las Vegas metropolitan area is a popular locale for conferences. One you might find particularly helpful is the Western States Acquirers Association's annual conference coming up Oct. 28 and 29, 2015, in Henderson, Nev. Editor

Corrections

Two typos slipped by us when proofing "The Most Valuable Merchant Portfolio," by Adam Hark, The Green Sheet, Aug. 10, 2015, issue 15:08:01. Here's how the text should have appeared:

  1. In the second item of the numbered list under the "Drivers wanted" subhead, the last sentence should read: "The portfolio with the major revenue concentration issue is, of course, a more risky acquisition."
  2. The sixth item of the article's numbered list under the subhead "The perfect, most valuable portfolio" should have read: "To have year-over–year credit and debit card charge volume attrition less than 5 percent would put the portfolio in the rarest of echelons and guarantee that it would price at the highest end of the market range."
  3.   The article's HTML version has been corrected. We could not correct the print version because it had already gone to press when the typos came to light. The Green Sheet regrets the errors and apologizes for any confusion they may have caused.
