Letter from the editor

It's true that industry experts who contribute articles to The Green Sheet gain visibility among our readers, but it's also true that the desire to contribute to the betterment of the industry and to help others build their careers is for many a stronger motivator than the recognition they receive for sharing their wisdom here. Yes, business is business, payments is a cutthroat business and everyone's seeking a competitive edge. But the instinct to lift the group overall is strong in our community, and we are proud to have been able to work for more than four decades with people who have given generously to help educate and empower people working in all corners of the industry.

With excerpts from our archives, this issue's lead article spotlights a number of experts who have shared perspectives on a range of topics including sales and marketing, data security, disruptors, and card brand rules. We could write dozens more articles featuring expertise from our archives, but there is so much going on in payments and fintech today, pointing to a small number of authors will have to suffice. We hope this article will remind you that real words from real experts are at your fingertips 24/7.

Current contributors continue to inform and inspire with articles on rights that all ISOs should know about whether or not they have managed to negotiate them; how to write our industry's big, complex story; blockchain's potential role in providing speedy, secure cross-border settlements at a fair price; similarities payment professionals face in their working and dating lives; and the need to mitigate instant fraud in instant payments.

The news highlighted herein covers Nacha's approval of new rules to enhance fraud monitoring for ACH credit payments and to boost fraud detection from payment origination to receipt; the LexisNexis true cost of fraud study, which revealed that merchants in the United States and Canada suffer a $3 loss for every $1 lost to fraud; and a federal judge's recent ruling that resolved a four-year dispute between PayPal Holdings Inc. and the CFPB regarding fee structures and disclosures for digital wallets and prepaid cards.

We always appreciate the news you send in press releases topress@greensheet.com, as well as feedback and inquiries you send to .greensheet@greensheet.com Your input is what helps us provide useful updates, profiles and so much more. We appreciate your continued participation. end of article
