Equinox Payments launched the Luxe 8700x payment solution, the latest addition to the company's line of holistic payment solutions. The device is designed to combine form and function to help merchants drive efficiencies and engage customers. Company representatives cited durability, transaction security and ease of use as product benefits, calling the Luxe 8700x a fitting addition to the Equinox POS portfolio, which includes fixed and mobile devices, payment software, developer tools, estate management, remote key injection and value-added services.
Rob Hayhow, vice president at Equinox, described the newest Luxe family member as a next-generation device, devised to reduce downtime and protect investments, that delivers reliability backed by exceptional design and engineering to sales channel partners, merchants and consumers alike. "The Luxe 8700x brings eye-catching features to any POS without compromising durability," he said. "It sets a new standard for multi-lane devices, elevating the customer experience while reducing downtime and protecting a retailer's investment."
Hayhow further noted that Luxe 8700x features include an enhanced screen with a crystal-clear display, uniquely angled keypad, illuminated chip card slot and intuitive under-the-display contactless reader. These complementary features help merchants keep checkout lines moving, he added, while providing an optimal customer payment experience in most POS environments.
Equinox representatives pointed out that every feature of the Luxe 8700x is meticulously engineered to tolerate the test of time without jeopardizing design integrity. The device's Aramid-fiber faceplate is designed to reduce surface damage from repeated customer interactions at checkout, they added. In addition, they noted, the chemically strengthened touchscreen is scratch resistant and can be viewed in all types of lighting; its securely mounted keypad, which cannot be snapped off, has distinctive letters and numbers that will not fade over time from repeated use. The Luxe 8700x runs on a secure Linux operating system that supports Equinox's Voyager software or any applications currently running on the Luxe 8500i or Luxe 6200m and that are managed by Equinox HUB. The Luxe 8700x offers numerous connectivity options, including wireless, and supports integrated, semi-integrated and unattended POS configurations. Multiple encryption keys deliver multi-point routing, and in-lane remote key injection reduces downtime, company representatives noted.

Noting that the Luxe operating system is engineered for maximum security across interconnected payment applications, third-party software and POS systems, Equinox stated the secure architecture is certified on PCI PTS 6.x and PCI P2PE v3.1 in Domains 1 and 5 to protect data and simplify compliance. Equinox sales channel partners and their merchants can securely manage multiple encryption keys for smart transaction routing and perform in-lane key injection to reduce downtime, the company noted.
