Multiple studies through the years have found that optimists typically have better outcomes than pessimists when it comes to physical health, longevity and overall satisfaction with life. Optimism also helps reduce stress and anxiety during periods of economic uncertainty, such as the time of this writing, when it appears the fate of our economy rests on whether the U.S. Congress will raise the debt ceiling to ensure the country does not go into default. Whatever happens, though, there is no doubt members of the payments community—a resilient, optimistic lot—will meet challenges that arise and find new opportunities to boot.
Knowing The Green Sheet Advisory Board consists of a number of the industry's strongest, proactive leaders, we asked them questions about navigating our economic boom and bust cycles, learning from the past, weathering difficult economic times, and communicating across deep divides. This issue's lead article contains the insights they shared with us.
In our Views and Education sections, payments experts offer further insights on such topics as dispensing with limiting beliefs to become more inclusive; making full use of training as a powerful resource contributing to the long-term success of companies and employees alike; technological advancements revolutionizing payments while also new fraud risks; and how to develop an omnichannel strategy, select the right technology partner, correctly implement solutions, and train staff on how to use them.
