Transform any wearable into secure, contactless POS

Product: Manage-Mii mobile app
Company: DIGISEQ

DIGISEQ, a wearable payments fintech, in partnership with financial super app, Curve, launched a new POS solution designed to help wearable payment technology scale globally. Powered by DIGISEQ's contactless payment technology and Curve's app, the solution embeds an NFC chip into wearables, allowing brands to create tokenized, passive POS wearables, the company stated.

Terrie Smith, DIGISEQ co-founder and global ambassador, stated the solution is compatible with rings, wristbands, clothing and other stylish wearables. "In addition to payments, DIGISEQ's solution can bring a much richer consumer interaction experience with 'Promo-Ready'—simply tap your wearable against your NFC smartphone to receive offers, upgrade your account, see your account balance, and more," she said. Smith further noted that until recently, consumers were restricted to active wearables with screen interfaces and limited battery lives, like smartwatches. By contrast, DIGISEQ's passive, non-battery-operated wearables enable brands to stay connected with customers.

Personalization at scale

DIGISEQ's Manage-Mii mobile app can be downloaded onto any Android or iOS-enabled device, the company stated, noting its support teams can help brands get products approved and running in as little as two weeks. Remote, over-the-air payment data provisioning creates instant activations and contactless payments acceptance, they added, enabling customers to transact with wearables anywhere contactless cards, phones and digital wallets are accepted.

DIGISEQ's IoT platform's end-to-end service connects banks, product creators, retailers, chip manufacturers and service providers, which the company explained provides the infrastructure, partners, hardware, and security systems to create and support wearable technology.

"At DIGISEQ, we strive to create unprecedented standards of convenience and control – to make the wallet redundant, money contactless and identification simple and secure," Smith said, adding that all products and services are brandable and customizable. In addition, because customers wear these items, they are less likely to be lost or misplaced, she said.

Scaling wearables worldwide

DIGISEQ said its tech is used in more than 300 different types of wearables from a wide range of brands, including renowned high-end designers like Phillippe Starck, wearable item brands AdornPay and LAKS, and most recently, financial super app Curve—bringing large-scale wearable payment tech to the UK fintech's 4 million customers across more than 30 countries.

In 2022, DIGISEQ achieved a world-first wearable tech rollout to Spanish Liga football club Real Betis, with 80,000 key fobs that work as contactless payment devices and season tickets, improving venue entry and payment times, combined with secure ID for a much more enjoyable experience.

In mid-2022, DIGISEQ's tech was used by Mastercard to power sustainable prepaid contactless fobs at the Roland-Garros French Open tennis tournament – made from discarded apple skins, this was a fantastic example of how DIGISEQ is reducing plastic usage and helping companies align products with ESG objectives through sustainable, stylish and practical items that consumers love.

Security, ease of use

Smith went on to say that DIGISEQ tokenizes user data in the same way as card and phone NFC payments are tokenized. DIGISEQ's wearable tech also protects merchants, she noted, by eliminating the need for secure, on-site cash facilities, which saves cash-handling costs.

By extending contactless payments beyond card and mobile phone payments, and onto items that customers wear at all times, businesses can now become more deeply embedded into their customers' everyday lives, Smith noted, which helps improve efficiencies, security and ease of use. Customers who wear their payment technology will no longer need to reach for their phones or cards, she added, which makes contactless transaction times and operational flows even faster while shortening queuing times while driving more revenue to businesses. "The past 18 months have been an incredibly exciting time for DIGISEQ, with our technology having been employed to great effect by globally [recognized] names," Smith said. "The partnership with Curve really is the icing on the cake." end of article
