VIP reservations, contact tracing in one app

Product: SpotOn Reserve
Company: SpotOn

SpotOn Transact Inc., a software and payment processing provider for small and midsize businesses (SMBs) and restaurants, integrated contact tracing and COVID-19 compliance requirements into SpotOn Reserve, the company's signature reservation management software. Current users of SpotOn Reserve and SpotOn Appointments will receive the product upgrade automatically at no additional charge, according to RJ Horsley, president at SpotOn.

"Automated, cloud-based contact tracing, such as this solution from SpotOn, helps SMBs to continue serving customers during the pandemic, while instilling confidence in public health officials that merchants can quickly and thoroughly respond to new outbreaks," Horsley said. "The benefit to owning and building our own products is that we can adjust them as necessary."

Horsley mentioned that SpotOn acquired Seatninja in 2020, a front-of-house restaurant platform designed to simplify managing single and multiple restaurant locations. SpotOn engineers added contact tracing functionality to the Seatninja platform, which was then integrated into the company's retail and restaurant reservation management systems, he stated.

Adaptable, scalable

Participating merchants can save names, email addresses and phone numbers for each of their merchant locations within SpotOn Reserve and its retail counterpart SpotOn Appointments, Horsley noted. Additional features such as automated texting further enhance reservation management by ensuring quick and complete notifications, he added.

"SpotOn Reserve can be used as a standalone solution," Horsley said. "You don't need to be doing restaurant point of sale or payments with us." Horsley also noted that merchants can use SpotOn Reserve in multiple ways to connect and transact with customers: can book reservations from their websites, third-party apps and SpotOn's browser-based web portal. The portal can be customized according to a restaurant's front-of-house policies, operations, staffing assignments, and customer analytics, he added.

Feature-rich app

Horsley pointed out that developers can use SpotOn's robust library of APIs to further customize SpotOn Reserve and facilitate integrations with SpotOn Restaurant, existing POS systems, online ordering, loyalty and dine-in mobile ordering. In addition to facilitating a VIP guest experience, SpotOn Reserve enables restaurateurs to book more reservations, serve more guests and increase profits, Horsley stated, adding that the system makes it easy for guests to book reservations from multiple touchpoints and Google search. Digital capabilities such as mobile waitlisting can further help to reduce cancellations while enabling restaurants to comply with COVID-19 seating and social distancing requirements.

"Participating restaurants can reduce labor costs, rotate servers and turn tables faster than ever before," Horsley said. "And restaurant owners can get to know their customers and engage them with targeted campaigns. SpotOn Reserve merchants can save between $800 and $1,200 per month compared to other reservation platforms that charge per-cover fees."

Driving economic recovery

Matt Hyman, co-founder and co-CEO of SpotOn, agreed that SpotOn Reserve is a timely solution at a challenging time for SMBs. "Small businesses are the heart and soul of our communities and our economy," he said. "We knew that when the pandemic hit, small business owners would be faced with unexpected challenges; our task was to innovate our technologies so that they could adapt to new requirements such as contact tracing."

Hyman attributed SpotOn's growth to its employees and growing base of customers and sales channel partners. The company continues to scale, he noted, having recently completed a $60 million Series C funding round in September 2020, a month after acquiring Seatninja, which formed the basis of the SpotOn Reserve product offering. SpotOn field sales account executives around the world are providing digital tools to small and midsize merchants to help them grow and scale their businesses, Hyman said. The company's experienced service teams help business owners deploy and implement a range of solutions, including marketing, website development, appointment scheduling, digital loyalty, review management, and both retail and restaurant POS solutions, he added. end of article
