Stay ahead of GenAI threats, payment complexity

Forter introduced two new tools designed to help digital commerce businesses navigate a fast-changing payments and fraud landscape. As part of its spring product release, the company launched the beta of Predictive Payment Routing and added GenAI agent detection—both key enhancements to its Trust Platform.

"Digital commerce today doesn't look the same as it did 12 months ago," said Cyndy Lobb, chief product officer at Forter. "Changing consumer behavior, advanced GenAI technology, sophisticated fraud and new regulations have all fundamentally changed the industry."

She added that Forter is committed to helping its customers grow confidently by knowing exactly who they are transacting with.

Smarter routing to boost approvals, reduce costs

Predictive Payment Routing builds on Forter's established Payment Optimization capabilities. Traditionally, Forter helped merchants determine when and how to authenticate a transaction.

Now, the solution goes further—recommending the optimal processor, card network and use of network token for each transaction. The goal is to maximize authorization rates and reduce transaction costs. Businesses can also incorporate their own routing rules to fine-tune outcomes.

AI-powered protection meets rising GenAI threats

Forter also rolled out GenAI agent detection to address the growing use of AI agents acting on behalf of consumers. While some of these bots help shoppers, others are used maliciously. Forter's technology distinguishes between the two, protecting businesses from emerging threats while allowing legitimate tools to operate.

Additional platform enhancements include increased detection accuracy—20 percent more device takeover attempts and 15 percent more connection manipulation techniques, including proxy and VPN use. Forter also added a GenAI-powered explanation feature that automatically generates plain-text summaries of decision logic, making complex evaluations easier to understand, the company noted.

Forter capped its spring release with news that it has achieved Premier Partner status in Shopify's Enterprise Technology Partner Program. Forter pointed out that it is the only fraud prevention provider in this top-tier group, a distinction that allows it to support Shopify's largest merchants with advanced risk reduction and a seamless customer experience.
