Brierley, a global loyalty solutions provider, partnered with PopID to add facial recognition to its LoyaltyonDemand platform. The POS integration, which was demonstrated at the 2023 National Retail Federation conference, is designed to improve the customer experience by simplifying in-store loyalty rewards and redemption, the companies stated.

Bill Swift, chief executive officer and chief technology officer at Brierley told The Green Sheet the new solution reflects Brierley's consistent focus over the past three decades on customer engagement and making customer relationships more profitable. "By making it easier for consumers to participate in loyalty programs and redeem rewards with LoyaltyonDemand and PopID, retailers can create competitive advantage and drive increased revenues," he said.

John Miller, CEO of PopID and chairman of Cali Group, agreed, stating PopID provides a safe, secure authentication service designed to verify identities based on facial biometrics. He noted PopID's technology was recently deployed at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 as part of a pay-with-your-face solution for contactless payments. Miller also participated in a discussion at NRF 23, moderated by Don Smith, executive vice president and chief consulting officer at Brierley on the topic of awakening loyalty and engagement with customers. Participants explored key trends in loyalty, such as hyper-personalization, clienteling, gamification and emotional loyalty.

Data-driven insights

Swift further noted that Brierley has perfected its loyalty platform over the last 15 years to support the needs of its clients by making its platform more configurable, intuitive and easy to use. As a result, the company's next-generation loyalty technology gives retailers everything they need to execute a loyalty strategy and measure its success.

"Its capabilities and extensibility are far-reaching," he said, adding that the PopID integration enables users to register on a personal device using facial recognition and immediately begin earning and redeeming loyalty points. Swift mentioned the following additional platform features and benefits businesses can utilize:

  • Customer profile management: Track behavior and engage audiences with real-time, personalized communications—rewarding customers and winning their hearts and minds by using the platform to manage member profile histories and statuses, including transactional and engagement accrual, rules engines and multicurrency programs.
  • Rewards: Host digital and physical catalogs (with or without point consumption), global currency exchange (points as cash), per member reward choices with progress visualization and sweepstakes and charitable donations
  • Campaign management: Design and manage all types of loyalty campaigns on the platform by using the platform's intuitive quick campaign wizard. Additional capabilities include advanced segmentation and auto control groups, consolidated marketing calendar, triggered and scheduled execution and reusable audiences.
  • Gamification and engagement: Drive engagement via refer-a-friend, badges, spin-to-win and scratch-off contests, challenges, augmented reality integration and digital stamp programs through the platform.
  • Digital offers and communication: Send real-time, location-aware offers, redemption notices, email and SMS messages, push notifications and in-app messaging through the platform in multiple languages.

Brierley's LoyaltyOnDemand platform is designed to help businesses create seamless channel and partner integrations while meeting global data privacy compliance standards, the company stated, noting that the platform protects personal identifying information (PII) in motion and at rest while providing tools to simplify customer identity management, the right to be forgotten and in-region hosting.
