From time to time we ask members of The Green Sheet Advisory Board to weigh in on current issues, concerns and challenges in the ever-evolving payments industry. Most recently we asked them a series of questions about what is required for ISOs, merchant level salespeople, and equipment, software and systems providers to succeed ‒ no longer just as payment services providers, but as business consultants who offer a host of integrated business services tailored to specific merchant needs. We asked Advisory Board members to delve into essential tools the various types of payment professionals must have, as well as the qualities each one must bring to the table.
This issue's lead article presents the first portion of responses this group of dedicated industry leaders provided. The rest of the replies will appear in an upcoming issue of The Green Sheet. Advisory Board members spoke not only of challenges, but also of the tremendous opportunities available to those willing to exploit them. Opportunities can be found in establishing partnerships with independent software vendors; providing effective assistance with EMV implementation; offering integrated POS systems; providing business intelligence and payment security products and expertise; tailoring products and services to serve specific market verticals; and much more.
Our Views and Education sections in every issue also share insights and advice from industry experts. In this magazine you'll find discussions on gains made in the faster payments arena; finding a happy medium between the necessity and costs of the certification process; how to bring the energy of spring to your work after a long winter; working with mobile operators to sell prepaid products to unbanked customers; and the pros and cons of same-day funding offerings.
In addition to new product and company profiles, we've included statistics on the changing cyber-threat landscape; highlights from news stories posted under Breaking Industry News at www.greensheet.com; a report on the ETA's recent Transact show in Las Vegas; briefs on industry milestones such as recent appointments, acquisitions, partnerships, research, awards and other individual and company achievements.
