Looking for leads
I'm new to the industry and do a fair amount of cold calling. I would like some warm leads. Any suggestions?
Ned Ruperna, Merchant Level Salesperson
Many ISOs provide their merchant level salespeople with leads, so check with your ISO if you haven't already done so. Also, post a question in GS Online's MLS Forum, and you'll receive a range of ideas on where to obtain fresh leads. Another excellent source is your own contacts. You frequent many merchants in the course of a week, some of whom are quite familiar with you. And you probably belong to a number of community organizations whose members would be interested in your services. In addition, search our archives for "warm leads"; you'll generate a list of articles pertaining to the topic.
Kudos for interchange coverage
The Payment Daily News Digest praised "Battle over interchange spreads," by Patti Murphy, published in The Green Sheet June 22, 2015, issue 15:06:02:
"Patti Murphy has released another well written and researched Green Sheet article projecting possible business model changes based upon recent EU interchange legislation. It is not a pretty picture. The legislation caps debit card interchange at 0.2 % and credit card at 0.3% starting December 9th, 2015. The new legislation also opens competition on a number of fronts that will further level the playing field with alternative payments. Patti then takes the reader deep into the complexities of interchange fees in our market and its impacts on the various stakeholders. Must reading."
Many thanks to the Payment Daily News Digest for bringing attention to the quality of Murphy's work.
For some payment pros, the summer season provides a bit of a lull, a time when it's a little easier to get away for a vacation. For others, it's the busiest season of the year.
