Taking mobile to new heights

Montreal-based AnywhereCommerce took mobile POS to the next level by introducing a dual-track mag stripe card reader and Europay/MasterCard/Visa (EMV) chip and PIN technology rolled into one device. The Nomad 2.0 mPOS solution weighs about four ounces and has been streamlined to make it lighter and more compact than the original model, the company reported.

Developed in-house by AnywhereCommerce, Nomad 2.0 was designed to make the transition from mag stripe to EMV technology easy for mobile merchants well ahead of the October 2015 deadline mandated by the major card brands. The device features an LCD message display, keypad, secured PIN pad and micro USB port for charging.

Nomad 2.0 has also achieved Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard compliance, EMVCO L1 and L2 certification, and Visa Ready approval. Relying on Bluetooth technology, the device connects with most major smartphone Wi-Fi–enabled devices and tablets on the market, including the latest versions of Android, Blackberry, iOS and Windows. Mobile merchants can process debit, credit, gift and loyalty card transactions using either mag stripe or EMV chip-and-PIN options, according to AnywhereCommerce.

Advanced features of Nomad 2.0 include:

"We believe that Nomad 2.0 represents a substantial improvement over the other mobile payment acceptance appliances in the marketplace," said Mitchell Cobrin, founder and Chief Executive Director of AnywhereCommerce. "Our team has worked hard to create a powerful yet compact device that will provide the fast, flexible and highly secure card-present payment options that merchant services providers around the world need to service their on-the-go customers."

Nomad 2.0 retail line busting and a variety of mPOS environments including tradeshows, home services, outdoor markets and concessions, and limousine and taxi services. Nomad 2.0 comes ready "out of the box" for merchants who choose to leverage its global payment application and gateway platform. For more information, visit
