Fed issues first quarter 2026 price, inflation expectations survey

First Quarter 2026 Price and Inflation Expectations Survey Philadelphia, February 25, 2026—The Philadelphia Fed has released the First Quarter 2026 Price and Inflation Expectations Survey, which asks business leaders in the Third District to provide forecasts on changes in their products’ prices, employee compensation, and U.S. inflation. Results from the first quarter of 2026 showed:

Compared with firms’ fourth quarter 2025 expectations and reported first quarter 2026 price growth, firms expect a slightly larger rise in their own prices over the next year.

Firms expect a similar rise in compensation costs relative to their expectations from the second half of 2025.

Firms’ expectations for U.S. inflation held steady relative to last quarter and are at their lowest readings in a year.
