BBVA expands with new digital deposit feature in cooperation with Paysafe

Tuesday, October 28, 2025 — 16:37:17 (UTC)

London, UK, October 28, 2025 – BBVA Germany is expanding its digital offering with a new “Bargeld via App” cash‑in feature. From now on, customers can deposit cash directly into their BBVA account at participating supermarket and retail checkouts – quickly, securely, and without visiting a bank branch.

With this new feature, BBVA is extending its cooperation with leading payment platform Paysafe via its PaysafeCash solution (marketed as viacash in Germany), which already enables cashout in retail stores without the requirement of a minimum purchase. Both functions work by generating a barcode in the BBVA App, which is scanned at the checkout to complete the transaction. In addition to around 50,000 ATMs with Mastercard logo where customers can withdraw cash, BBVA is further enhancing convenient cash availability for its customers. Cash‑in and cash‑out via “Bargeld via App,” both provided by Paysafe, form a complete, everyday‑friendly cash solution integrated into BBVA’s fully digital banking experience.

“As a digital bank, we rely on smart partnerships to offer our customers maximum flexibility when it comes to cash,” says Luís Fiestas de Fuentes, Head of Digital Banking at BBVA Germany. “Together with Paysafe, we are creating a modern and convenient way to integrate cash into digital banking – seamless and suitable for everyday life.”

Paysafe also sees the extension of the cooperation as an important step: “Integrating our barcode solution into the BBVA app enables simple, secure, and convenient cash withdrawals and deposits exactly where people shop,” says Bob Legters, Chief Product Officer at Paysafe. “The addition of the cash-in functionality makes BBVA customers even more independent from traditional bank branches.”

The new feature complements the digital bank’s existing offering and adds another practical function to its permanently free and long-term remunerated current account.
