In Memoriam | Jason Kuhn

Jason Kuhn was a truly special renaissance man in America's close knit independent ATM community. He was an ATM industry veteran who saw the opportunity and entered the retail ATM business when competition was first allowed back in 1996, going on to build and sell a very nice ATM route, only to then become a senior executive with the nation's second largest ATM ISO, Payment Alliance International, and finally rounding things out in a key senior executive role that helped secure Hyosung's position as one of the world's most preeminent ATM equipment manufacturers.

Even more than this, Jason was first and foremost a wonderful father and husband, and a good caring person. He was a dear friend to many in our industry and to all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him (and in some cases jamming with him - to witness first-hand his awesome electric guitar virtuosity).

Jason played an extra special role with NAC on behalf of Hyosung.

He graced many an expert panel at our annual ATM conferences over the past seven years - always bringing great knowledge, wisdom, and insight to his communications in those settings. He was passionate in his support for ATM Nation and all his fellow entrepreneurs that have made their life's work bringing convenient and dependable cash access to all Americans - wherever they may live or work.

Jason played instrumental roles in helping NAC and the industry get through the complex implementation of EMV in the least painful way possible, facilitating DCC implementation by Visa, addressing Man-in-the-Middle and other significant ATM fraud threats, fighting against discriminatory US Tariffs on ATMs, pioneering implementation of crypto-ATMs, and pursuing the vital industry relief being sought in NAC's longstanding antitrust case versus the global networks.

Most recently, Jason has been working with NAC to implement a set of touchless / biometric standards for ATMs - which was all too prescient in view of the current pandemic crisis - and which is an initiative that NAC and the industry will now be working on to bring to fruition in Jason's honor and memory. We thank Jason for his many wonderful contributions to NAC and the US ATM industry. We will sorely miss the joy of Jason's presence and spirit. But our fond memories of him and his special impacts upon our industry shall long endure.
