Fenton, Mo., June 27, 2011 -- InteliSpend Prepaid Solutions announced today they are teaming up with employee wellness program provider Virgin HealthMiles to provide wellness expertise, program design and program delivery for InteliSpend clients. Both companies are focused on helping lower health care costs for employers and employees.
According to the Office of the Surgeon General, about two-thirds of American adults are overweight and the numbers continue to rise.
A 2010 MasterCard and Harris Interactive survey finds that for every dollar spent on wellness, medical costs fall by about $3.27 and absenteeism costs fall by about $2.73.
Wellness programs work to improve the health of employees, reducing healthcare costs for both employers and employees.
“Healthy employees make a healthy company. Whether it's wellness, promotions or employee recognition, we at InteliSpend understand what motivates people,” said Darryl Hutson, InteliSpend CEO. “The right incentive can help change the course of corporate and personal lives. With the addition of Virgin HealthMiles, we are now delivering to our clients the next generation of wellness solutions based on real, validated and actionable data.”
Earlier this year, InteliSpend announced its exclusive MasterCard®Wellness Prepaid Card offering companies a turnkey solution to help maximize participation in corporate wellness programs.
With the addition of Virgin HealthMiles, InteliSpend gives companies additional options to help motivate employees to take part in corporate wellness programs.
Virgin HealthMiles provides employee health programs that pay people to get active. The company’s Pay-for-Prevention™ approach, based on physical activity and healthy lifestyle change, attracts an average of 40 percent of employees who participate in the program regularly. Virgin HealthMiles excels in getting members engaged and active in the process of getting healthy so they can make measureable changes to their health. The result is great productivity and lower long-term healthcare costs, which boost the company’s bottom line.
“Employees across the country are increasing their daily physical activity and engaging in healthier lifestyles with our programs,” said Chris Boyce, Virgin HealthMiles CEO. “We are happy to combine efforts with InteliSpend to provide additional incentives opportunities for our clients to select for their employees.”
