6th Avenue Capital appoints Levy, Seidel, Lockwood to senior development team

New York, Feb. 6, 2018 - 6th Avenue Capital, LLC (“6th Avenue Capital”), a leading provider of small business financing solutions, announced today the appointment of three senior members of the business development team. Mitchell (Mitch) Levy, Marc Seidel and Gary Lockwood recently joined 6th Avenue Capital to lead the sales teams. The new hires follow last year’s appointments of Christine Chang as CEO and Darren Schulman as COO as well as a $60 million commitment in capital from a large institutional investor.

Mitch Levy joins 6th Avenue Capital as Strategy Officer, overseeing the company’s business origination strategy. Levy joins the company with more than three decades of alternative financing experience across multiple disciplines including origination, underwriting, investing, operations and legal. Prior to 6th Avenue Capital, Levy held executive and senior level positions across various small business funders, including Managing Director at OQUITY, Chief Strategy Officer at Capify, and Chief Investment Officer at Bizfi (formerly Merchant Cash & Capital).

“6th Avenue Capital has quickly established itself as a major force in the Merchant Cash Advance business,” said Levy. “In this role, I have a great opportunity to work closely with the leadership team and our strategic partners to help small businesses across the country gain fast and efficient access to capital in times of immediate need.”

Marc Seidel joins 6th Avenue Capital as Vice President, Business Development. Previously, Seidel spent more than 10 years working at Bizfi, where he started his career in the alternative financing industry as a Risk Analyst and worked his way to a Senior Underwriter position, ultimately landing a business development role where he was responsible for managing relationships with Independent Sales Organizations (ISO’s) and driving deal demand.

Gary Lockwood joins 6th Avenue Capital as Business Development Manager. Prior to 6th Avenue Capital, Lockwood built and led a successful consulting business where he opened several business financing sales offices. Lockwood was formerly a Senior Vice President of Partnerships at Fundation. Lockwood also worked at AmeriMerchant (now Capify) as Director of Business Development with responsibility for onboarding, managing and training broker and partner groups.

“Adding these industry veterans in business development will undoubtedly advance our mission to expand our existing network of ISO’s and other strategic partners to ensure small businesses have access to capital in hours,” said Chang. “We are proud to have built a leadership team of financial industry experts with extensive backgrounds across economic cycles.”

6th Avenue Capital launched formal operations in 2016 to help finance small businesses that are often ineligible for funding due to traditional underwriting criteria. 6th Avenue Capital evaluates each application for funding individually and keeps the merchant’s short and long-term needs in mind. The company also understands that small businesses may need funding quickly. 6th Avenue Capital’s data-driven underwriting processes, expertise and technology can give the merchant secure and equitable approvals of qualified requests and funding within hours.

“Building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with all of our strategic partners is critical to our long-term success,” said Schulman. “Bringing on board seasoned professionals like Mitch, Marc and Gary who know how to build these relationships, and have worked across a diverse range of specialities and disciplines within our industry, gives us a significant competitive edge.”

In addition to new Business Development hires, 6th Avenue Capital also recently announced competitive underwriting guidelines, buy rates and incentive programs for 2018.
