US Payments Forum hosts Chicago workshop on ATM EMV implementation

Princeton Junction, N.J., Aug. 16, 2016 – Independent ATM owners, banks and credit unions preparing to migrate to EMV chip technology at their ATMs can get important planning information and implementation best practices by attending a U.S. Payments Forum workshop in Chicago this September. With the first fraud liability shift for the ATM industry approaching this October, this timely workshop will provide a non-technical review of the critical components of the EMV implementation process.

The workshop, “Implementing EMV at the ATM,” will be held on Monday, September 19 from 1-3pm CT at the Rosemont Hilton, Chicago O’Hare. “There are a lot of considerations that ATM industry stakeholders need to be aware of as they migrate to chip technology, and many have questions about how to become chip-compliant,” said Randy Vanderhoof, director of the U.S. Payments Forum. “This workshop will cover essential requirements and recommendations to help ATM executives in the greater Chicago area to effectively and efficiently implement chip technology.”

Through this workshop, attendees will:

• Better understand upcoming liability shifts and what they mean to ATM owners and operators

• Learn about important chip concepts and basic chip requirements for ATMs

• Get suggested best practices and special considerations for migration planning and chip implementation

• Hear updates on the current status of the U.S. ATM chip migration

This workshop is being hosted by the U.S. Payments Forum’s ATM Working Committee and is based on the recent white paper, “Implementing EMV at the ATM: Requirements and Recommendations for the U.S. ATM Community.” This workshop is part of the U.S. Payments Forum’s ongoing efforts to provide the education necessary for the U.S. to successfully move to chip cards.
