Singapore and Atlanta, June 30, 2016 -- Global Payments Inc. (NYSE: GPN), a leading worldwide provider of payment technology services, is pleased to offer merchants in Singapore the ability to accept Android Pay™, which will offer a range of choices for Android mobile users in-store and in-app.
Easy to set up and use, customers can download the Android Pay app, add an eligible credit or debit card, simply tap their phone on a contactless terminal and the payment is sent for authorization. Android Pay is designed to align with industry tokenization standards and not send actual credit or debit card numbers, but instead securely create virtual account numbers for transactions. Details of a customer’s card information are not released to the merchant, and customers are notified immediately when a purchase is made. To check device compatibility with Android Pay, go to the Google Play Store.
“Following the successful enablement in the United States and the UK, we are thrilled to support further global expansion of Android Pay in Singapore,” said Frank T. Young, SVP, Global Product and Innovation. “We look forward to enabling more merchants to take advantage of this payment innovation.”
