Monday, March 14, 2016 — 13:01:26 (EDT)

Washington, D.C., March 14, 2016 – The Electronic Transactions Association (ETA), the global trade association representing the payments technology world, today announced a partnership with the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance to launch the Security Tech Zone at TRANSACT 16. The FIDO Alliance is a consortium of security and technology companies and leading consumer services providers promoting innovative, standards-based ways to authenticate consumers online. The Security Tech Zone will feature FIDO Alliance member organizations demonstrating products that incorporate the latest advancements in FIDO-enabled security and authentication. TRANSACT 16, the premier annual event in payments technology, is April 19-21 in Las Vegas and registration is open now at www.transact16.com .

“Cybercrime and fraud are the top threats to growth in e-commerce, and the Security Tech Zone at TRANSACT 16 will feature the most innovative new consumer authentication tools for merchants and consumers,” said Jason Oxman, ETA CEO. “The Security Tech Zone is a must-see destination to experience the latest payments security technology.”

FIDO Alliance member companies are deploying new technology solutions based on FIDO standards that allow payments companies to more simply and securely authenticate consumers. Many FIDO® Certified products include biometrics such as fingerprint and iris scanners, as well as voice and facial recognition for authentication, removing the need for passwords or cumbersome login details when they shop. Most importantly, FIDO Certified products offer enhanced security and protection of customer data.

FIDO Alliance members participating in the Security Tech Zone include Egis Technology, Ledger, mSIGNIA, Samsung SDS America, Sensory, Inc., StrongAuth, Inc., SurePassID, and Synaptics, Inc.

“At the FIDO Alliance, we understand that trust and confidence are paramount to the payments industry,” said Brett McDowell, FIDO Alliance Executive Director. “Consumers need to trust merchants, and merchants must have confidence in their payments providers’ ability to offer the safest commerce solutions available without compromising the user experience. At the Security Tech Zone at TRANSACT 16, attendees will see first-hand how FIDO standards-based solutions meet these requirements by reducing reliance on passwords while providing a superior and trusted customer authentication experience.“

Additional TRANSACT 16 highlights include: the 55,000 foot exhibit-floor with specialized areas spotlighting mobile technology, security technology in payments and the “the next big thing”; updates on the latest regulatory issues impacting and influencing payments technology; the best insights on start-up successes, VC and acquisitions; educational offerings such as ETA-U courses available on-site; and high-level breakouts delivered by industry visionaries with the most up-to-date, actionable payments technology intelligence.

TRANSACT 16 is the single biggest event tailored to the evolving needs of the payments ecosystem. TRANSACT 16 is where business gets done, payments titans meet current and future business partners, venture capital invests in what’s next, growing companies build influence, and companies of all sizes launch new products.
