Tampa, Fla., Sept. 4, 2015 -- Sterling Payment Technologies, a national leader in payment processing and provider of payment solutions to merchants of all types and sizes, today announced that George Wilcox, a 30-year veteran of the financial services industry, has assumed the responsibility for leading its Product Development Division.

George Wilcox has focused on product and business development within the payments industry for more than 25 years, and has led the development and launch of multiple new product innovations.

Prior to his current role in leading Sterling’s Product Development team, Mr. Wilcox spent 15 years with Chase Paymentech in multiple senior roles, including senior vice president of business integration and development; group executive, gift card and loyalty; and group executive, product management. In these roles, Mr. Wilcox led the development of products to support Paymentech’s rapid growth to becoming a leading payment processor, including Paymentech’s entry into the Canadian marketplace. As the point person for Paymentech’s business development organization in working with Chase Bank, Mr. Wilcox leveraged the bank’s sales channels to grow Paymentech’s revenue from small businesses by 40 percent. Wilcox also established Paymentech's gift card and loyalty division, and increased revenue from those and other products from $100 million to $700 million over eight years.

Before joining Chase Paymentech, he was vice president of business development for IVI/Checkmate (now part of Ingenico); general manager of TimeCorp, a subsidiary of VeriFone; and a vice president with National Data (now Global Payments), initially responsible for client services and then transitioning into leading the product management and marketing organization.

Mr. Wilcox received his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Grove City College and his Masters in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business.

Wilcox currently divides his time between Tampa, Cincinnati (Sterling’s latest expansion city), and Meredith, New Hampshire, where he lives with his wife and son. He plans to relocate back to Tampa in the near future.
