Mobeam board taps former P&G VP Jeff Weedman

Wednesday, October 01, 2014 — 13:49:11 (EDT)

Palo Alto, Calif., Oct. 1, 2014 -- Mobile commerce leader Mobeam announced today that former Procter & Gamble Vice President of Global Business Development, Jeff Weedman, has joined the company's Board of Directors. Weedman was also the Founder and Startup CEO of Cintrifuse.

"We are excited to welcome Jeff to Mobeam's Board of Directors. His deep expertise in helping to drive the highest-level strategies at Procter & Gamble for over 30 years across a variety of consumer-facing industries is extremely valuable to Mobeam as we further integrate our technology with consumers, retailers, brands, and Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies." said Kang Lee, CEO of Mobeam.

Weedman brings to Mobeam a wealth of experience in leading growth strategies across numerous industries. At Proctor & Gamble he held a broad range of executive leadership roles that honed an understanding of how to drive growth, including products, marketing, R&D, finance, sales, and strategic development.

"It's exciting to join the Mobeam Board of Directors," said Weedman. "I've reviewed many companies in this space, but Mobeam's solution is the only one that enables mobile consumers to use coupons, offers, and loyalty cards seamlessly at the register, without requiring any new retailer hardware or software and without the hassle of clerks having to manually input codes. It adds tremendous value throughout the ecosystem, and its current growth trajectory in terms of enabled devices is really impressive."

Mobeam's patented technology allows consumers with devices that are enabled with Mobeam's technology to instantly transmit loyalty cards, coupons, gift cards, tickets, and vouchers from their smartphones to all Point Of Sale (POS) scanners without any hardware or software upgrades. Without Mobeam's technology, laser scanners, which make up the vast majority of scanners in the market today, cannot scan barcodes from mobile devices because of the reflective screen and the powerful backlit display. Mobeam's technology provides the first solution for this device-to-scanner communication barrier, and is expected to be available on over 140 million smartphones by the end of 2014.

Mobeam's technology is showcased in Beep'nGo, its top-ranking shopping app on the Google Play store. Beep'nGo, which launched in April, is already approaching 5 million downloads and differentiating itself as the go-to app for consumers in North America to get the best discounts, offers, and coupons from leading retailers, brands, and CPG companies.

Owners of Samsung Galaxy S4, S5, or Note 3, click here to download the Beep'nGo application from the Google Play store. Users who purchase the soon-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will also have access to Beep'nGo via Google Play.
