Reloadly, an airtime aggregator, launched a suite of software developer services designed to help businesses extend digital capabilities and reach. The new SDKs, APIs and developer services complement Reloadly's global network of more than 50 telcos and 750 mobile operators, helping businesses of all sizes improve and accelerate mobile payments, top-ups and transfers of digital goods and services, according to company representatives.

Michel Francis, co-founder and chief executive officer at Reloadly, described Reloadly's technology stack enhancements as "simple open APIs and developer tools that better enable companies and developers around the world to connect with their telcos."

Francis recalled that after working with legacy mobile credit companies for more than a decade, he and co-founder, Emmanuel Piard, created Reloadly to remove friction and improve the overall mobile airtime experience. In addition to simplifying mobile airtime top-ups, Reloadly offers developers a dedicated, cloud-based platform with sandbox, widgets, SDK and free mobile and web APIs designed to simplify integrations with numerous vertical applications, he noted.

Readymade infrastructure

Reloadly channel partners—from startups to Amazon, Apple, Google Play and other leading brands—can connect with leading telco brands through a single platform, which enables developers to send notifications and digital goods to mobile phones worldwide, Francis pointed out.

By providing infrastructure for connecting to the mobile digital economy, Reloadly facilitates mobile airtime payments in over 140 countries, supporting a variety of cases, including airtime remittances and gifting, SaaS offerings, transaction histories and data, promotions and discounts, Francis stated. Following are additional features he mentioned:

• Countries: Provides details on over 140 airtime top-up locales.
• Operators: Provides insights on over 700 mobile operators in different regions that support international or airtime recharging and detects mobile operator details of specific mobile phone numbers.
• FX rates: Provides details of a mobile operator's exchange rate for airtime recharges, which is helpful for cross-border digital payments, airtime remittances, international top-ups, customer rewards and discounts.
• Discounts: Provides discounts and percentages applied by a mobile operator for a specific airtime recharge. This ensures enterprises receive the best value when making top-ups across various operators.
• Promotions: Provides specific details pertaining to ongoing promotions by operators that provide top-up services, such as special airtime and bundle offers, to mobile numbers across various regions.
• Top-ups: Works with other features in the airtime product when recharging a mobile number, including instant airtime recharges to local and international mobile numbers and asynchronous recharges related to transaction monitoring, statuses, alerts and notifications.
• Airtime transactions: Serves as a ledger that provides information on every top-up carried out on an account. Every transaction has a serial ID for each transaction by user account and a transaction ID assigned by an operator where a top-up was made.

Developers can use these features to embed airtime, data bundles, gift cards and mobile money capabilities into their applications, Francis noted, adding that these services require no contracts or commitments and include multilingual support. Reloadly's platform is designed to help developers build a variety of applications and use cases, including open-source airtime solutions, top-ups, ecommerce payment methods, cryptocurrency, and digital wallet solutions across numerous languages, industries and currencies.

"There's still a huge digital divide that exists for many people in the world," Francis said. "Reloadly can help bridge that divide by better enabling merchants and brands to accept mobile payments instead of solely relying on cash."
