Letter from the editors

As we enter a new year and new decade, we are looking forward to furthering our mission to empower and connect today's payments professionals through our magazine, website, event sponsorships and other related initiatives. We appreciate the bird's-eye view we've had of the tremendous changes that have occurred in payments over the last ten years, which has enabled us to help readers navigate new landscapes and formulate fresh plans for success.

We also appreciate our advisory board members, who offer their expert perspectives throughout each year in various ways, including through questions we present to them. In our last issue of 2019, we published a segment of their answers to questions that centered on evaluating successes and lessons learned over the last year and likely challenges and opportunities facing the industry in 2020. This issue includes the second and final portion of their responses.

In addition, we appreciate our partners and contributing writers, some of whom have been working with us for us for more than a decade. Inside you'll find an assessment of what actions led to building a thriving ISO over the last decade; advice on how to spark your team to perform at its highest level over the next year; how your own purchasing habits could be hindering your sales results and what do do about it; and three areas of possible industry focus in the year ahead.

We post news stories regularly on our home page, www.greensheet.com, and a selection of those are highlighted herein, including stories on why simplified P2PE may broaden merchant adoption, PayPal's lawsuit filed against the CFPB over prepaid card rules, new fraud attacks coming in the new year, Visa and Mastercard's actions to crack down on free trials, and technology implemented to enable the color blind to access digital banking services.

Other noteworthy developments are covered in brief updates on awards bestowed, training initiatives, financing secured, industry research, strategic partnerships, acquisitions and integrations, and executive appointments. We've also included company and product profiles selected for their potential to be of particular interest to ISOs and merchant level salespeople.

In every issue, we aim to provide the very best information and insights to you. Please send your feedback, suggestions and questions to the editors behind this letter: Kate Gillespie, our CEO; Laura McHale Holland, assistant vice president, editorial; and Patti Murphy, senior editor. We will welcome your comments at greensheet@greensheet.com. end of article
