Update on Mobile Payments Bill of Rights

Senior Staff Writer Ann Train received the following note regarding "Mobile Payments Bill of Rights offers best practice framework," The Green Sheet, Sept. 28, 2015, issue 15:09:02:

"[T]hat is a wonderful write-up … thanks so much for covering this. As an update, my trip to Capitol Hill was super-successful. I met with several congressional leaders as part of our talk about the future of mobile payments – and the Mobile Payments Bill of Rights was well received as part of those discussions. The document is now with [members of Congress], the ETA (Electronic Transactions Association) and several companies. "As a side note, analyst firm Frost & Sullivan has lent its support (and endorsement) to the Bill of Rights. If you should ever want to speak with them, let me know. Brent Iadarola heads their mobile practice. … I look forward to our paths crossing, soon. We will be speaking at the Annual AFP Conference in Denver; if you are attending, let us know."

Greg Wilfahrt, AP Technology

Greg,

Thank you for appreciating Ann Train's work and for the encouraging update. We, at The Green Sheet, all look forward to your sharing further perspectives as the mobile payments sphere continues to develop and gain traction among acquirers, merchants and consumers.

Another helpful infographic

Keymer Inc. founder and Lead Consultant Simon Keymer, who works with the PCI Security Standards Council, alerted us to a new infographic: Fight Cybercrime by Making Data Worthless to Thieves. He said it "is very helpful in putting EMV in context alongside complementary technologies, tokenization and point-to-point encryption (P2PE). It is … available on the PCI website, https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/documents/PCI-CyberCrime-FinalR.pdf?utm_campaign=2015%20Community%20Meetings&utm_content=22017999&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter."

He also noted that the "context is crucial to understanding EMV's role in the 'secure-all-channels' payment security strategy being implemented" in the United States.

Simon,

Thank you for informing us of this educational resource from the PCI SSC. We're delighted to be able to share it.
