Appreciating NEAA

Payments industry veteran Jacques Breton forwarded to us a letter he wrote recently to the Northeast Acquirers Association. He stepped down to welcome new leadership after approximately three decades of nurturing NEAA growth. He also included a note to The Green Sheet, stating, "I need to express a special thanks for all the help and cooperation over the years that you folks have extended to NEAA and me. … Please thank the whole staff."

Here's his letter to his colleagues at NEAA:

In June of 1985 a group of credit card people gathered to play golf, we bantered about an idea for an organization or function that would provide a day to exchange information and network. In 1997, the first winter NEAA event was held in Rutland, Vt., where the attendance was approximately 60 people. Now 30 years later, the NEAA has grown to over 600 and continues to grow as well as the other three regionals – SEAA, MWAA & WSAA.

After 29 years in January 2014, I had given everything I had and figured it was time to resign and hand over the reins to take this organization to its next evolution. I truly enjoyed working to make this organization grow. I have met many people, many whom have become more than colleagues and are now friends.

It is with sincere gratitude I want to express for the recognition from the Board at [this year's] closing event and from many of the participants who greeted me. The legacy of the NEAA proves that it was built on a strong foundation and continues with its mission – Educate and Network.

I want to thank all for the many years and the many thanks.

To the Board, I appreciate and am grateful for the many thanks and for the words spoken.

Thank you,

Jacques Breton, MJM Associates Inc.
