MagTek Inc. recently launched the DynaPro suite of payment terminals designed to deliver optimum security to mobile and brick-and-mortar merchants. The DynaPro retail POS and DynaPro Mini mobile POS have each undergone rigorous security certifications to meet the needs of small- to enterprise-level businesses, MagTek stated.
"DynaPro devices immediately encrypt data at the point of swipe, using industry standard encryption and eliminate the burden associated with proprietary encryption systems," said John Arato, Vice President and General Manager for Retail Products at MagTek. According to Arato, with DynaPro devices, sensitive card and PIN data is never "in the clear," and with the MagnePrint card authentication feature, ATM, debit, credit and gift cards can be authenticated in real time, just as counterfeit or cloned cards can be identified to deter criminals.
MagTek reported that the DynaPro Mini handheld device fits both countertop and mobile environments. Restaurants are able to expedite checkout when using it for pay-at-table service or line busting during peak hours. It also permits merchants to process in-person payments in the field for deliveries or when rendering services on-site.
With a slightly larger footprint, the DynaPro is considered the work horse in the series. Both devices can be configured to support signature capture, Europay/MasterCard/Visa (EMV) contact and contactless, magnetic stripe and PIN payments. MagTek noted that "free of charge SDK's for Android, iOS and Windows and a wide range of connectivity options including Bluetooth 4.0, USB or Ethernet, ensures a solution for most applications."

Device deployments can either be configured by the MagTek factory or Magensa, its wholly owned subsidiary and service provider for Remote Key Injection and device configuration. MagTek attested that both devices are certified as Payment Card Industry PIN Transaction Security 3.1, and Point of Interaction Secure Reading and Exchange of Data compliant; both also meet EMV Level 1 and 2 specifications.
