Naples, Fla.-based Benseron Information Technologies Inc. takes a hands-on approach when it comes to developing software platforms and applications that help streamline retail and restaurant operations. Nearly a decade ago, the company's founder opened a Subway restaurant franchise where he began testing his POS software. In January 2013, Benseron's Bevo POS software system premiered at the Northeast Acquirers Association Winter Seminar & Outing.
"This software has been years in the planning," stated Onur Haytac, Chief Executive Officer at Benseron. "The level of sophistication of what we offer is beyond what most are even capable of under one roof. We develop the software, manufacture the hardware, host the cloud and provide support directly from Benseron; that's the only way to make a system this revolutionary."
To back that claim, Bevo was reportedly developed completely from scratch, with no third-party controllers or components. Instead, the graphical user interface was created using Windows Presentation Foundation and Xaml programming technologies, in tandem with custom controllers, which, all combined, produce a simple and intuitive user presentation.
According to Benseron, Bevo represents the first hybrid POS application and first fully redundant POS application in the payments industry. For restaurants, hybrid technology enables users to operate hand-held tablet devices tableside for order taking and payment processing, while simultaneously updating sales information through a cloud database for storage and retrieval.
"This extraordinary technological feat enables cross-platform products like Android, iPad or Windows OS to run the Bevo software with the same graphical user interface," Benseron stated, adding that the master terminal, server tablet and restaurant bar terminal screens all look and function identically, while syncing constantly with one another and the cloud.
"It all came down to business intelligence," Haytac said, noting that significant data collected in real-time permits restaurant owners to make on-the-spot decisions related to staff management, food service, table turns, payment processing and upselling opportunities, among others. Its dual cloud and server networking capabilities provide continuous access to real-time data, and being fully redundant helps eliminate POS system downtime, the company noted.
The Microsoft Corp. Windows module of Benseron's Bevo system became available in February. All parts of the Bevo POS system can be downloaded, integrated and deployed using a plug-and-play format. Benseron also provides technical support to assist users with customization of its Bevo system, the company said.
