Partnerships proliferate in May

Maybe because it's spring, partnerships seem to be what the payments industry is talking about lately. Here is a sample from the first two weeks of May 2012:

Ingenico, POS Portal offer mobile POS

Ingenico S.A. said POS reseller POS Portal Inc. will distribute Ingenico's Telium series POS products to U.S. ISOs. The Telium products include countertop terminals, near field communication-enabled mobile devices and customer-facing terminals.

"We are very pleased to partner with POS Portal on the distribution of our Telium range of products to help meet ever changing and dynamic payment acceptance needs of their customers," said Bernie Frey, Senior Vice President of Acquirer Sales for Ingenico, North America. "We are ready and committed to equip POS Portal with the highest-performing POS products available in the U.S. market capable of supporting traditional and new types of payment such as EMV, contactless, and NFC-enabled mobile payments."

Merchant Warehouse, LevelUp partner

Merchant Warehouse reported it is working with mobile payment software provider LevelUp to expand the two companies' mobile payment and mobile commerce businesses. The deal combines Merchant Warehouse's merchant services experience with LevelUp's smart phone scanning technology.

USAePay teams with QBPlugin

USAePay partnered with software provider QBPlugin for QuickBooks to enable merchants to process credit card and automated clearing house transactions from Intuit Inc.'s QuickBooks through the USAePay gateway. QGPlugin for QuickBooks software can also handle electronic funds transfer and electronic check conversion, and can reportedly be used with all existing merchant accounts.

VeriFone, Sky News partner

VeriFone Inc. said it is broadcasting British Sky Broadcasting Ltd.'s Sky News to VeriFone POS terminals in London taxis. Similar VeriFone taxi news services are now available in 10 major media markets in the United States and the U.K.

In other news, VeriFone teamed with Lenovo, manufacturer of the ThinkPad Tablet, to integrate a custom version of VeriFone's PAYware Mobile Enterprise software with the ThinkPad. The result, called ThinkPad Mobile POS, will allow merchants to configure, customize and manage an end-to-end mobile POS platform. end of article
