ISIS adds GPR, loyalty cards to mobile wallet

In a Feb. 20, 2012, corporate blog post, mobile payment venture ISIS reported that a general purpose reloadable (GPR) prepaid card, as well as loyalty cards, will be included in its mobile wallet service. The blog labels the GPR card as the "Isis Cash card."

The blog said the ISIS Mobile Wallet will contain credit, debit and loyalty cards along with the GPR card. The wallet will also provide users personalized offers, account details and purchase records.

According to the Smart Card Alliance, ISIS Director of Sales Jim Stapleton remarked at the Smart Card Alliance Payments Summit held February 2012 in Salt Lake City that the upcoming summer pilot of ISIS in Salt Lake City will be a transformative experience for consumers.

The alliance reported that Stapleton said the joint venture between AT&T, T-Mobile USA, Verizon Wireless, Discover Financial Services and Barclays Bank will give financial institutions and merchants "tinker toys" to develop payment and loyalty programs via the ISIS Mobile Wallet.

In another blog post, ISIS said the combined reach of the three mobile telecommunication companies in the venture will give ISIS access to over 200 million wireless phone subscribers, representing three out of every four U.S. wireless users. end of article
