WSAA expects large crowd at annual conference

Western States Acquirers Association The Western States Acquirers Association, a not-for-profit, nonmembership organization dedicated to keeping payments professionals educated and informed on the constantly changing industry, is bringing its conference to Southern California.

The fourth annual conference will be held Oct. 17 to 18, 2007, at the Sheraton Park Hotel at the Anaheim Resort in Anaheim, Calif. The hotel is across the street from Disneyland and offers enjoyment for family members of attendees. Due to its growing audience, the event is set in a location with more capacity for both attendees (financial institutions, ISOs, merchant level salespeople or others who primarily sell acquiring related services) and exhibitors. Presentations and breakout sessions will cover filling the sales pipeline, bankcard sales strategies, adding revenue beyond credit and debit processing, merchant retention, agent retention, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard compliance, wireless systems, and residuals and alternative revenue streams.

Paul Martus of Martaus and Associates, and Hector Barreto, former Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will be guest speakers. Presenters from Hypercom Corp., Verifone, Ingenico, eProcessing Network LLC, Authorize.Net (Cybersource Corp.) and USA ePay will also be featured.

A Texas Hold 'Em charity poker tournament, sponsored by United Bank Card Inc. will close out the conference at 8 p.m. Oct. 18.

The conference registration fee is now $125. A Field Guide for ISOs seminar is included in the registration price. Check-in starts at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17, with introductions beginning at 12:30 p.m.
