FreedomPay to host live panel at NRF 2023

FreedomPay will explore the retail landscape with payments industry leaders on Jan. 16, 2023, during NRF 2023. The event, to be held 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at Booth 4250 at New York's Jacob Javits Convention Center's exhibit hall, will also be live-streamed on YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn, FreedomPay representatives stated.

Moderated by Green Sheet Senior Staff Writer Dale Laszig, the roundtable will showcase diverse perspectives from the following retail payments experts:

  • Chris Kronenthal, President, FreedomPay
  • Ben Love, CEO, North America, Castles Technology
  • Belinda Harris, VP, Retail Development, Charter Communications
  • Craig Witsoe, CEO, Elo

Break through

NRF representatives noted the theme for this year's conference is break through, which celebrates retail strength, innovation and opportunity. "The last few years have taught us a lot," NRF representatives wrote. "Today we're smarter, faster and more innovative than ever before. We're no longer just getting through—now's our time to break through."

Kronenthal agreed retailers have faced unprecedented challenges in recent years, noting the right mix of talent, technology and infrastructure has helped top-performing retail brands break through barriers and continue to grow and scale. "The retail world is stuffed with people, brands and media, all shouting over one another to get noticed," he said. "We look forward to a compelling discussion among known brands in the space and their senior representatives."

Unleash power of pay

Reflecting on political, economic, social, technological, environmental and legal pressures facing retailers, Kronenthal mentioned that the upcoming roundtable with top voices in retail payments will assess current and future retail trends. Throughout the discussion, he noted, experts will examine emerging retail themes such as loyalty, personalization, frictionless commerce, and retail innovation in current and future contexts. And they will address the following topics:

  • The current commerce landscape: challenges and opportunities across retail
  • The near-term landscape: notable trends influencing retail's future
  • Strategies for success: clear direction for merchants to navigate changing retail topography

"We will focus on one broad theme, 'Unleashing the Power of Pay,' as we discuss the meaning of that idea and how it works in the retail sector," he said. "Within that context, we will explore on several sub-themes, which we also explore throughout our 'Power of Pay' white paper."

An omnichannel event

Kronenthal additionally noted that FreedomPay's media partner agency, MarketScale, will produce the event over two days, beginning with the global onsite and web event on day-one, followed by a series of interviews and B-roll footage throughout the conference.

"As retail evolves, technological advancement is key to keeping pace with the increasing demands of customers in the complex marketplace," he said. "FreedomPay sets out to partner and encourage merchants to embrace the change catalyzed by numerous external forces, and optimize the buyer journey and experience at the Point of Sale and unleash the power of pay to reach Next-Level Commerce."

FreedomPay's white paper, Unleash the Power of Pay, outlines strategies for optimizing security, safety, speed, simplicity and customer satisfaction, Kronenthal noted, by providing a road map to help all types and sizes of companies meet milestones and surpass objectives.
