ETA opens 2023 award nominations

The Electronic Transactions Association, standard bearer for the increasingly diverse global commerce value chain, issued its annual call for award nominations. Designed to honor leaders, disruptors and exceptional individuals whose commitment and dedication are moving the industry forward, the 2023 awards will recognize contributions by individuals and enterprises, stated Jodie Kelley, CEO of ETA.

"ETA's annual awards recognize exceptional leaders in the payments space," she said. "The ETA awards—from Young Professionals to Top ISVs—also demonstrate the breadth and depth of our industry."

In keeping with the constantly evolving payments space, the ETA added new categories to its annual awards, Kelley noted. She invited ETA members and non-members to review the list and nominate candidates. The payments industry's products and services expand the digital economy, she added, providing consumers with innovative, cost-effective and secure ways to hold, send, receive and spend money.

Year-over-year growth

Kelley noted the expanding list of award categories reflects a growing market in which ETA members safely, securely and quickly process approximately $26.5 trillion in purchases and P2P payments worldwide. A formal award ceremony will honor prominent leaders in conjunction with the ETA's annual conference, TRANSACT, to be held April 24 to 26, 2023, in Atlanta.

In recognition of ISVs and their growing contributions in driving convenient, safe and efficient payments, the ETA will honor the top 10 payments ISVs, a new award category in the 2023 awards, which Kelley summarized as follows:

  • ETA Top 10 Payments ISVs: Integrated payments software solutions have disrupted, redefined and made a recognizable impact in the payments experience.

  • ETA Star Awards: Individuals or brands that have significantly changed payments through innovation, best practices or contributions will be among the four winners in this category.

  • ETA Forty under 40: Ten individuals who are under forty years of age, from across the industry's value chain, will be recognized for their game-changing contributions to payments.

  • ISO of the Year: A large or small ISO, registered with Visa and Mastercard, that has exhibited high ethical standards, successfully met industry challenges with demonstrated results and moved the industry forward will receive this honor.

  • Most Innovative Product or Solution: An innovator that has used technology to enable significant advances for the payments ecosystem will receive this award.

  • ETA Committee Volunteer of the Year: An individual who has dedicated extra time and effort to a committee's success will be formally recognized.

  • Pay it Forward: An ETA member or company that has strived to make the world a better place through community service will receive this award.

  • ETA YPP Scholars: Individuals accepted into the ETA Young Payments Professionals (YPP) scholars program are considered the rising stars of the payments industry. The program provides mentorship and leadership opportunities to help them grow in their careers.

Nominations now open

The 2023 ETA Awards program continues its long-held tradition of recognizing leaders, disruptors and stellar individual contributors to the payments industry. The association encouraged payments industry stakeholders—ETA members and non-members alike—to submit nominations.

Winners in all categories will be recognized throughout TRANSACT, ETA representatives noted, beginning with a formal presentation at the Visa Celebration and Star Awards evening, on the main stage, and afterwards at various receptions to be held in their honor.
