Emerald Card goes to the top

Tax preparer H&R Block won Paybefore's Top of Wallet award for its MasterCard Worldwide-branded Emerald Card. The general purpose reloadable (GPR) card offers low fees and a large reload network. "Winning this award is like being named best picture at the Oscars," said Greg Quarles, President of H&R Block Financial Services.

H&R Block said the award and recent ratings by top publications are the result of the Emerald Card's low fees, user-friendly features, online functionality, security and increased reload locations. "There are no monthly fees to use the card, no fees to make purchases," the company noted. "The Emerald Card is the only prepaid debit card that provides clients immediate access to funds deposited via an innovative remote check capture feature in the Emerald mobile app."

H&R Block reported that almost 2.5 million H&R Block customers loaded over $8.7 billion on the Emerald Card in 2013. Since the GPR card was launched in 2006, more than $50 billion has been loaded onto it, the company added.

The tax preparer also entered a partnership with prepaid card distributor InComm that extends the reload network for the Emerald Card by 60,000 locations in the United States. Emerald Cards. end of article
