Isis, a mobile-commerce entity created by JVL Ventures LLC, rolled out its mobile wallet in two cities Mon., Oct. 22, 2012, a company spokesman confirmed. JVL is a joint venture of AT&T Mobility, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless. Last week, Jaymee Johnson, Head of Marketing at Isis Mobile Commerce, said, "Isis will be launching in Austin and Salt Lake City on Oct. 22. By year end, as many as 20 [types of] Isis-ready handsets are expected to be in-market." Johnson said more details about the rollout will be available after the wallet is released. The company reported Isis will ultimately be available to all merchants, banks, payment networks and mobile carriers. The Isis wallet enjoys the support of local merchants in the Salt Lake City and Austin metropolitan areas, as well as that of national and regional retailers such as Aéropostale, The Coca-Cola Co., Dillard's and Foot Locker Inc., among others. According to JVL, consumers will need to acquire near field communication-enabled phones manufactured by AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon to access the Isis mobile wallet.
