Minneapolis, Oct. 1, 2014 -- Digital River, Inc. (NASDAQ:DRIV), a leading global provider of Commerce-as-a-Service solutions, today announced that it will include support for Apple Pay through its Digital River World Payments mobile point-of-sale (mPOS) solution. This hardware and software solution, which is designed for small to mid-sized businesses, will take advantage of NFC-based ‘tap and pay’ or ‘wave’ payment acceptance. The mPOS solution will also support magnetic stripe, EMV (chip and PIN) transactions, and contactless credit and debit card payments.
“Today’s merchants are looking for support for emerging payments beyond magnetic stripe,” said Souheil Badran, senior vice president and general manager of Digital River World Payments. “With support for Apple Pay as well as contactless and PIN-debit payments, Digital River World Payments’ mPOS solution will offer a fast, secure and cost-effective alternative for entry into mobile payments.”
The Digital River World Payments mPOS solution is designed to enable small businesses to leverage leading mPOS options – providing smaller merchants a technology that’s necessary to compete with leading retailers. Using the solution’s free mobile app and Bluetooth-enabled payment terminal, merchants will be able to expand the ways they can accept payments and streamline their business processes. The mPOS solution is designed to consolidate all sales workflows and data to make analytics more accessible and comprehensive. In addition, the tablet version of the solution supports a Bluetooth-enabled cash drawer and thermal printer, and offers a unique inventory capability, enabling merchants to add photos of products and UPC codes.
“Mobility is an important strategy for small and medium-sized businesses,” added Badran. “For these merchants, Digital River’s mPOS solution will simplify the entire payment process by providing them more choices for payment methods as well as an open platform for integrating third-party loyalty programs, offers and self-checkout capabilities. The mPOS solution brings secure big box capabilities without the price tag or complexity.”
Digital River World Payments’ mPOS API is also available for developers who wish to integrate EMV and contactless payment capabilities into their applications.
